Saint John the Baptist inspired by Caravaggio with a stark contrast between light and dark evoking spiritual light and presence.
Our St. John the Baptist is our third tableau inspired by Caravaggio. Aside from brilliantly capturing the beauty of the form, the artist was known for his exceptional use of chiaroscuro, or tenebrism. He used the stark contrast between light and dark to play against forms while also using the light to guide the viewer through the work or to evoke spiritual light and presence within a composition. The final result is a work of art that is as visually seductive as it is a spiritual and intimate portrait.
Staged pieces and historical recreations of works by famous artists such as Caravaggio and Murillo, Known as Tableaux vivants. All works are originals, individually signed and numbered by the artist.
